Feeling Thankful

Today is Day 31 (the final day!) of my Happiness Hacks series.

Feeling ThankfulOh my goodness. I did it! I actually wrote and posted a happiness hack every single day this month. Hooray!

For those of you who joined me on this journey, thank you for coming along. I appreciate you taking time from your busy day to read my posts, and I hope you got some ideas for little happiness boosts to try yourselves.

When I started this series, I wrote about how I love the invitation a new month offers. Tomorrow is another fresh start, and so today’s happiness hack was feeling thankful for you reading and also thinking about and planning for a thankful November.

Because of this series, I’ve developed a new confidence in my ability to stick with a habit. I tend to start strong on habits and then let them peter out. Now that I know I can do it, I’ve decided to take my daily writing habit “off-line” for November. Not only will it give me a chance to catch up on some personal writing, it will also give you a break from my posts. 🙂

To make time for these new writing habits, I’ll be taking a break from social media (cold turkey, so to speak – no Thanksgiving pun intended). Not only will this give me more time for writing, but I believe being unplugged will also provide a month-long happiness boost.

My focus for November is on spending time with my people and expressing gratitude, and so my planned writing include my gratitude journal and thank you letters.

Gratitude Journal: My gratitude journal, which has been gathering dust, is off my shelf and on my desk. Even if it’s just a quick bullet point or phrase, I will write down at least one thing I’m grateful for every day in November.

Thank You Letters: As John F. Kennedy so eloquently stated, “We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives.” Instead of just thinking about the letters I intend to eventually write, I’m going to actually write ten of them this month.

Wishing you a happy and gratitude-filled November!
