Wednesday Date Night

Today is Day 12 of my Happiness Hacks series.

Wednesday Date NightUnless you include sitting next to each other at a soccer game as a date, my husband and I have not gone on many in the past few years. Typically, the only time we go out to dinner together is if we’re on a trip somewhere. When we’re at home, our schedules revolve around work and getting kids from here to there and back again. By the time the weekend rolls around, we’re tired and feel like staying home.

But last week, in a serendipitous moment, we decided to go out to a really nice dinner while our kids were at their Wednesday night youth group meeting. Normally, we use that time for an errand or more work, so it was unusual for us to prioritize a date with each other. But we did, and it was really a great evening – a chance to catch up, talk about what’s going on and what’s coming up. We rarely have an uninterrupted hour and a half, and that was pretty amazing. Plus, we didn’t spend time shopping, cooking, or cleaning up. Double win.

Today is Wednesday and guess what we’re doing again? Yep. Date Night, Part 2, because it’s a perfect mid-week happiness boost.
